The best use of NILDE

Nilde is a software that allows libraries to exchange documents requested by users in a quick and easy way. Moreover, it is a network among libraries and librarians who cooperate and make this service useful and valuable.

Document delivery time is very important for our users. Therefore, requests should be completed as soon as possible, and, in any case, within 3 working days.

To guarantee the proper functioning of the Network, it is essential to update own library catalogues and contact details, to be sure that anyone can contact you without delay.

When the library needs to suspend Nilde service, even for few days, it is important to clearly state “Service suspension” using the proper function in the section “My Service”, which is located in our library panel: “Welcome Library and modify data”.

Libraries are committed to reciprocity and to a free-of-charge service, as stated in the Nilde regulation. As far as possible, it is advisable to send documents free of charge.

How can we choose the Library to which forward our request? No worries! Nilde suggests the most appropriate library of the network to which forwarding the request.

Forwarding DD requests with correct and complete bibliographic references will help the lending library in delivering the document more quickly.

As for the electronic journals acquired by consortia, it is a good practice forwarding the requests to libraries belonging to the same disciplinary area as that of the journal.
